Cookie & Advertising Policy

This page explains how advertising works on How Old Am I and the choices you have when Google AdSense is available on your device.

1. Our own storage

The calculator does not need a cookie or an account to calculate an age. If you turn advertising off, we save that choice in a first-party browser cookie named how-old-am-i-ad-preference. It is used only to remember your advertising preference in that browser for up to one year.

2. Google AdSense

When advertising is enabled in an eligible region, we load Google AdSense. Google and other advertising partners may then set or read cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, avoid repeating ads, measure performance, prevent fraud, and, where allowed, personalise ads. Google's use of advertising cookies may enable it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this and other sites.

Google explains these practices in its Advertising technologies policy and its partner-site information. Other vendors may be involved in an ad auction and have their own notices and controls.

3. Your controls

• Use “Advertising preferences” in the footer, then choose “Turn ads off” to prevent AdSense from loading after the page refreshes.
• Use “Advertising preferences” in the footer to revisit the choice.
• Use Google My Ad Center to manage personalised Google ads.
• Clear browser cookies or use browser privacy settings to remove or limit stored data.
• Use a Global Privacy Control-enabled browser to signal that advertising cookies should remain off here.

4. EEA, UK, and Switzerland

Google requires publishers serving ads in these regions to use a Google-certified consent management platform that integrates with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. Until that solution is active, this site keeps AdSense off for visitors in those regions. You can still use the calculator without advertising.

5. No sale of calculator entries

We do not sell your calculator date of birth or use it to build a calculator profile. The calculator does not send the date to our own database. Advertising data is handled separately by advertising providers after you enable advertising, as described above.
